When is the Medicare Annual Election Period (AEP)?The Medicare Annual Election Period (AEP) runs October 15th to December 7th and is the time you can make changes to your plans that become effective January 1st of the following year. This time period allows you to make the following changes to your plan: - Switch Medicare Advantage Plans (MA or MAPD) - Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan - Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan to Original Medicare - Join a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug (PDP) plan - Switch from one Medicare Part D Prescription Drug (PDP) plan to another - Drop a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) Members currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan or Medicare Prescription Drug Plan will receive the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) prior to the enrollment period. How does Perfiniti help clients who are already receiving Social Security benefits and are approaching 65 with enrolling in Medicare? At Perfiniti Insurance, we focus on making the transition to Medicare as smooth as possible for our clients. If you are receiving Social Security benefits prior to turning 65, you will typically be automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B. This is contingent on having met the required amount of work credits to qualify. You should receive your Medicare information, including your Medicare card, in the mail about 3 months before your 65th birthday. However, it is important to note that not everyone will be automatically enrolled. Our team at Perfiniti can verify your enrollment status and assist you with any additional steps that may be needed. We represent multiple carriers, ensuring that you have access to a wide range of coverage options tailored to your individual needs. If you have any concerns or haven’t received your Medicare information, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for personalized assistance at 888.885.8361.

I have group insurance, do I still need Medicare?"It depends, is your group coverage comparable or better than traditional Medicare options? Our licensed agents will compare pricing, coverage, deductibles, co-payment, coinsurance and flexibility of choosing your own doctors. We also take into consideration if there are any other members on the current group policy, as this could affect premiums for other individuals on your current plan. Depending on the company – in some cases, once an individual goes off the group coverage, they may never return to that coverage.

Q: How do insurance companies price Medicare Supplement Plans? At Perfiniti Insurance, we understand that pricing for Medicare Supplement Plans can be a bit perplexing. Insurance companies use a few different methods to determine the cost of these plans, which are crucial to providing you with the coverage that best fits your needs. Generally, pricing falls into three categories: Community-rated, Issue-age-rated, and Attained-age-rated. 1. Community-rated (No-age-rated): Everyone who buys this type of plan pays the same premium regardless of age. While premiums may go up due to inflation or other factors, they are not based on your age. 2. Issue-age-rated: The premium is based on the age you are when you first buy the policy. The younger you are when you purchase, the lower the premium. However, these premiums generally do not increase as you age. 3. Attained-age-rated: The premium is based on your current age, meaning it starts low but increases as you grow older. While this type can be cheaper initially, costs may rise significantly over time. At Perfiniti, we represent multiple carriers, so we can provide you with a range of options. Our goal is to ensure that you are not limited by one carrier or product, allowing us to tailor the Medicare Supplement Plan for your unique health needs and budget. Our team is here to help you navigate these pricing structures, making your Medicare journey as smooth and beneficial as possible.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO?The most common difference between HMO and PPO plan is that by having an HMO plan, one must use the network provided by the insurance company. If the HMO enrollee decides to seek care outside of the plans network, he/she will pay out of pocket costs to the maximum Medicare allowed amount. Having a PPO will allow you to seek care at any provider that accepts Medicare. However, you may pay more out of pocket for not using the plans “preferred” network.

What is the difference between a Medicare Advantage plan and a Medicare Supplement Plan?At Perfiniti, we understand that choosing the right Medicare coverage can be overwhelming, but we're here to simplify it for you. A Medicare Advantage plan (MA or MAPD), often called Part C, is an all-in-one alternative to original Medicare. These plans are offered by private insurance companies and include Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Medicare Part B (medical insurance). Most Medicare Advantage plans also offer additional benefits like vision, dental, hearing, and even prescription drug coverage, which are not covered by original Medicare. Think of it as a bundled package offering comprehensive coverage with potentially lower out-of-pocket costs. In contrast, a Medicare Supplement plan, also known as Medigap, is designed to work alongside your original Medicare coverage. Medigap policies help pay some of the healthcare costs that original Medicare doesn’t cover, such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. These plans are also offered by private companies but do not typically include additional benefits or prescription drug coverage—you'd need to purchase a separate Part D plan (PDP) for that. Medigap provides you with the freedom to see any doctor or specialist who accepts Medicare, giving you more flexibility. So, if you’re looking for all-inclusive coverage with extra perks, a Medicare Advantage plan might be the right choice. However, if you prefer the freedom to choose any Medicare-approved provider and need help covering gaps in original Medicare, a Medigap plan could be more suitable. At Perfiniti, we represent multiple carriers and can help you navigate your options to find a plan tailored to your needs. Let us help you make an informed decision with enthusiasm and expertise all at no cost to you!

Perfiniti is here to help you navigate your Medicare options and avoid these costly penalties. By assessing your situation early and offering coverage from multiple carriers, we ensure you get the right prescription drug plan tailored to your needs without any gaps in coverage. Q: If I buy a Medicare Part D plan, do I still have a co-pay for my prescriptions?Even with a Medicare Part D plan, you may still have co-pays for your prescriptions. The specific amount can vary based on the medication tier, the pharmacy you use, and the specifics of your chosen plan. For example, generic drugs often come with lower co-pays compared to brand-name medications. At Perfiniti, we represent multiple carriers to ensure you find the lowest possible plan tailored to your needs, minimizing your out-of-pocket costs. Reach out to us, and our team will help you navigate your options and make informed decisions about your Medicare Part D coverage!
