IT’S FALL Y’ALL
It’s that time of year………the leaves are showing their beautiful colors, there is a nip in the air and the Pumpkins and Apples are ripe for the picking. Maybe you went apple picking and aren’t quite sure what to do with your harvest? I have a lovely, lower sugar recipe that can be enjoyed by all.
Baked Apples Recipe
Ingredients:
4 Apples (firm apples such as Granny Smith or Honey Crisp) But you can use your favorite apple if you want, they will just be a bit softer.
2 T Butter (unsalted) separated into two 1T cuts, then cut each in half
¼ C Brown Sugar (or Stevia if you want to go even lower sugar)
¼ C Chopped Walnuts or Pecans
1 t. Cinnamon
Pinch of Salt
Directions:
Set Oven to 350 degrees
Core the center out of the apples and slice a small part of the bottom off of the apple so it sits up in a small baking dish without falling over.
Put the ½ T of butter in each core
Mix together all of the rest of the ingredients in a small bowl, pack the mixture into each of the cored apples. If there is any left over, sprinkle around bottom of baking dish.
Bake for 30 minutes or until a knife pierces the apple easily
Let cool, serve with Whipped Cream or Ice Cream for an extra special treat
